earlier this week i was a guest on my friend’s podcast (mike kesthely’s Nova 3 Labs)  and over the course of the hour or so of sharing a heap of stories from my past, a couple “funbobbyisms” came up. blog inspiration has been pretty sparse for me these days, so after listening to the podcast at home (OMG is that what i sound like?!) i thought id expand on the 2 i shared on the show and since im long winded, id round up to 5:

1. sweat everyday- got this one from matthew mcconaughey, he was on inside the actors studio (great interview show btw) and the host james lipton asked him what he did to stay in such good shape, McConaughey’s answer was simple “i sweat everyday”. if there was a 6th thing on this list it would be keep it simple, so in the kwasny household, with all our combined years of training experience and years spent in a multitude of different sports, we adapted this philosophy, sweat everyday. we cant always get to a gym, and when we are out at our family cabin in the summers we start everyday with a sled dog conditioning session with only our body weight, a set of dumbbells and a nasty hill ive literally been running for 40 years. so unless you are purposely resting (rest days are important people take them!) get that body moving at least once every day.
2. stop worrying- if anyone anywhere has a story where worrying made anything better please email me and ill pass it on! this is super obvious really and we hear it all the time, but it wasnt until recently that i sat down and gave this some thought. if you run a small business there are always plenty of things to worry about and ours is no different. if i let my anxiety run away on me, theres a thin line sometimes between actively working on solving a problem and letting the hamster grab a random thought and jump on the wheel, weve all been there im sure. worrying helps nothing, its obvious, but we do it all the time, stop.
3. dont smoke crack– just dont.
4. when in doubt ask the nearest woman- this one is for the dudes out there, if you are in a situation and you arent sure what to do, ask the nearest woman. trust me, the potential for mayhem, shenanigans or personal injury will be greatly reduced if you follow rule 4.
5. attitude is everything-there are so many things in life we cant control, one thing we can have a handle on is our attitude. anyone who has been through a real life changing experience, wakes up everyday happy to be alive, anything after that is just details. dont just think positive, but act positive, try to see the best in every situation and yes that includes other people. you never know when you interact with someone where they are in their day, good day? bad day? worst part of the worst day ever? possible for sure. you dont have to walk around and hand out hugs and pop rocks wherever you go, but use your necessary human interactions as a chance to make someone smile. positive energy comes back to you, i know this to be true, but it starts with a positive mindset.
